Brick 2015 being advertised…….but not where you expect!

I was at Upton Park for my final games at West Ham this season before we move to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Stadium next year. Being an expat, it is just not easy to get back and forth to watch Premier League football, let alone the cost of a ticket.

I have many pre-match rituals that have not really changed in 20-odd years of attending/visiting Upton Park – same chip shop, same route to the stadium, must buy a programme, etc.

And it was the latter which really caught my eye this time.

Whilst sitting down waiting for 35000 people cheering (or in our case going quiet when it all goes Pete as Winston Reid’s own goal didn’t help matters), I was quite shocked to see a full page advert for Brick 2015!

Normally adverts in the matchday programme are full of glossy ads from well known brands or local companies who have sponsored the game, so I really was genuinely surprised to see the ad in there.

London ExCel is not that far from East London and what better way to get the event across to a wide audience who may have not known about the event. There are still lots of little ones that attend a game with their parents.

Interesting and pleasing to see……………….unlike our bore-draw with West Brom on Sunday.

My name is Keith and I am a AFOL. Currently an expat living out in Basel, CH, but have a firm footing back in the UK when time permits.

I have had had Lego ever since I can remember - and only until my wee one came along have I re-kindled the flame for building again.

I also run matchbox1-75.co.uk, a resource site for the 1-75 series of miniatures by Matchbox.

There are only three themes that I am get/collect (finances permitting) - City, Creator (Advanced and Expert) as well as the classic Star Wars sets from Eps IV to VI (anything else does not exist). I also keep an eye in Europe with ample chance to see how France, Germany and Switzerland market and offer LEGO.
