Count down with LEGO Advent Calendars from tomorrow

Christmas is almost here, that glorious time of year when AFOLs – and apparently children – wait, hoping to shake a present on December 25 and hear the most beautiful sound a box can make. Of course until that date, LEGO fans will be opening doors to see what mini-builds await to help count down the anticipation to the day itself.

It is hard to believe that the LEGO Group has been producing advent calendars for over a decade now. This year, as in the last few, there are three available – CITY, Friends and Star Wars.  advent-1Each day, up until December 24, Brick Fanatics will be opening each door and seeing what mini model resides within. Every morning, readers will be able to follow along as each model is presented with comments.

To spice things up a bit and switch Christmas cheer for Christmas competition, each day we will pit the models from each calendar against each other and select a winner. We will be comparing the builds to see which is the most interesting, desirable and fun. By the end of December we will have a total score for each calendar, and able to pointlessly declare which is the best.

Check back tomorrow as our Christmas countdown begins.

When I was 3 years old my dad bought home 6659 TV Camera Crew as a gift — he had no idea what he had just unleashed. Three decades and no dark age later, I am still going strong. My love of LEGO led me to a career in Civil Engineering and I am now raising three budding LEGO lovers with my lovely wife who is, bless her, a huge supporter of my brick addiction. When not writing for Brick Fanatics or fulfilling my duties as the U.S. Editor of Blocks Magazine I enjoy collecting, MOCing, exhibiting, as well as running, climbing and home improvement.
