LEGO Star Wars, City and Friends Advent Calendars – Day 8

Each morning leading up to Christmas day, Brick Fanatics is cracking open all three official LEGO advent calendars to see what goodies are found within

Feel free to join us and share your own comments when opening up those advent calendar doors – whether you opted for Star Wars, City or Friends. You can do so on FacebookTwitter or underneath this very feature.

75184 Star Wars: Weapons rack

Today it is the proverbial weapons rack, that bastion of festive goodness that has been a hallmark of nearly every LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar since the very first one. Thankfully, this year’s is actually pretty decent with both a moulded blaster instead of a stud shooter and an ever useful grill component in dark bluish grey. While the model itself is fairly boring, the inclusion of those pieces makes it appealing to fans just the same.

60155 City: Grandma and fresh cookies

Now this is more like it. Unique Christmas themed torso prints are hard to come by and this grandma minifigure is sporting a great one. She would look more than at home in any of the Winter Village sets that have been released over the last decade. Throw in those four printed cookies and you have a nearly perfect Advent Calendar offering.

41326 Friends: Sleigh train car

My prediction that the snowmobile from day two would be the start of a train appears to have been accurate. Unfortunately the problem with that original model continues here – it is too simple for a display, coupled with a lack of useful or interesting parts. While I will never complain about getting more modified tiles, a single copy in yellow is not enough to get the juices flowing. It looks like we are in store for more of these train cars in he days to come, which does not bode well unless the quality increases considerably.
