New The LEGO NINJAGO Movie image released

A new image from The LEGO NINJAGO Movie that shows off three of the Ninja mechs has been revealed.

Entertainment Weekly had the exclusive first look at this dynamic still that shows Cole, Kai and Lloyd’s new mechs from the big-screen outing.

Director Charlie Bean also shared a little about the challenges faced by protagonist Lloyd, voiced in The LEGO NINJAGO Movie by Dave Franco.

“Everyone knows that he’s the son of Garmadon,” co-director Charlie Bean explains. “They don’t know that he’s the Green Ninja, this great hero of the city, but they do know that he’s the son of their villain.”

He also talked about the collaboration between the movie creatives and the LEGO Group.

In addition to having top-notch martial arts skills, Lloyd and his ninja cohorts use high-tech mechs to protect the city, and the animators worked with the LEGO design team in Denmark to build them — like Lloyd’s elaborate green dragon mech, shown here. “You have this limited palette, and that’s the design challenge that makes this so much fun,” Bean says. “It’s about learning how to think in LEGO.” And it’s oh so satisfying when everything clicks together.

The LEGO NINJAGO Movie range is due for release on August 1. The LEGO NINJAGO Movie is due for release on September 22 in the USA and October 13 in the UK.
