Official LEGO Advent Calendars – December 11

Every day until December 24, Brick Fanatics takes a look at the gifts in the LEGO CITY, LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Friends Advent Calendars for 2016

Oh my goodness, it is a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. No needles, the lights on the top, the scraggly skeleton look. This is perfection, sheer perfection. A shout out to a beloved Christmas special that many of us watch annually as part of our seasonal traditions rendered without a single flaw? Okay, it might be a bare tree decorated with lights that happens to match that, but either way it’s a great festive model.

Here is a rather simple guitar stand, propping up an instrument with brilliantly detailed printing.

The Trade Federation ATT is a memorable vehicle, with a unique design that sits in the memory. This micro version replicates it fairly accurately.

Each day, we will compare the three builds and pick the best.

Today’s CITY model is unique among advent calendar LEGO builds, at a time when there is a fair bit of repetition from years past, and is extremely well executed – so gets today’s point.

The scoreboard

CITY: 4

FRIENDS: 2

STAR WARS: 5

When I was 3 years old my dad bought home 6659 TV Camera Crew as a gift — he had no idea what he had just unleashed. Three decades and no dark age later, I am still going strong. My love of LEGO led me to a career in Civil Engineering and I am now raising three budding LEGO lovers with my lovely wife who is, bless her, a huge supporter of my brick addiction. When not writing for Brick Fanatics or fulfilling my duties as the U.S. Editor of Blocks Magazine I enjoy collecting, MOCing, exhibiting, as well as running, climbing and home improvement.
