With Star Wars taking world wide box offices by storm, the clamor for Star Wars merchandise has gone into overdrive. But there is a trend appearing across social media, with many people asking why there is so little Rey themed merchandise. Rey played by Daisy Ridley is an important character within The Force Awakens and Disney have been praised for including a strong female character in the films starring role. However the hashtag #WheresRey is gaining traction, with many questioning why the star of the film isn’t included the masses of products connected to the film.
I’ve seen this first hand in my local Disney Store, with all major characters getting talking action figures and a pack of 6 character figures featuring all male characters, with a TIE pilot included instead of the main character! Thankfully LEGO has you covered this Christmas, with Rey featuring in their new Buildable Figures line. As well as in a couple of their LEGO Star Wars playsets.
The Rey LEGO Star Wars Buildable Figure is available now from Argos stores and a number of Tesco stores across the UK, priced at £14.99 (well in Argos at least) along with the other The Force Awakens ones. So although it does little to explain Disney’s lack of thier own Rey merchandise, at least there is something available for young fans of this new Star Wars heroine.
