The Taj Mahal was commissioned back in 1632, although construction work on it actually took place over the following two decades. The structure is a mausoleum for Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal; nowadays, it would cost around $1 billion to construct. This LEGO version is one of several, although it’s considerably smaller than previous incarnations. Even so, it’s immediately recognisable; the LEGO set captures its main dome, smaller minarets and the crypt itself, as well as several other fine architectural details The finished model is 20cm high and has a footprint of 23 square cm.
