76917 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GTR (R34) is reported to be a ‘game changer’ for LEGO Speed Champions for one new innovation.

Lead designer for LEGO Speed Champions, Chris Stamp, has shared that he believes one aspect of the recently-revealed 76917 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GTR (R34) will be a game-changer for LEGO Speed Champions for how it could be applied to future sets.

“This is the first time that we’re decorating wheel arches, and not just once but mirrored left and right on both sides and this is a game-changer for LEGO Speed Champions,” explained Chris speaking to Racing Brick.

“We’ve done so many cars where you’ll see the livery go and it kind of stops awkwardly at the wheel arch and then it kind of continues afterwards. What this does is open a door for us to even more race cars in the future.”

It might not seem like a big change for LEGO Speed Champion but as Chris states, it means that cars with liveries that need that extra amount of detail for the perfect recreation are now suitable for a LEGO set, though nothing has currently been confirmed beyond 76917 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GTR (R34) is reported to be a ‘game changer’ for LEGO Speed Champions for one new innovation.

The upcoming model has yet to be added to the official online store but it is currently live on the wider LEGO website with additional images. The previous listing suggested that it would launch on February 28, 2023, for €24.99.
