LEGO Ideas 40487 Sailboat Adventure fan designer shares stunning images of the finished set

The fan designer behind LEGO Ideas 40487 Sailboat Adventure has shared a series of incredible images of this month’s headline gift-with-purchase.

Yan Chevalier’s Sailing Ship Adventure trumped stiff competition in last summer’s dream holiday contest to become a future GWP, and is now available as the sublime 40487 Sailboat Adventure. You’ll need to part with a lofty £200 / $200 / €200 to qualify for the freebie at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores, but as these brilliant photos of the finished product reveal, it’s well worth the investment.

According to his LEGO Ideas profile, it was photography that originally pulled Yan back into the world of the brick as an adult. You can see more of his work over on his Instagram page, including some amazing pics of the brand new LEGO Star Wars range – but for a quick peek at his sunset-inspired photos of 40487 Sailboat Adventure, which call back to his original contest-winning submission, scroll down.

40487 Sailboat Adventure is available now at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores with purchases of £200 / $200 / €200. You’ll need to be a VIP member to secure it today and tomorrow, before it opens up to everyone else on August 4. The promo will then run until August 29, or while stocks last.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
