Six pre-Black Friday LEGO bargains at Zavvi

Black Friday is still a few weeks away, but Zavvi has already discounted dozens of LEGO sets in the run-up to the biggest shopping event of the year.

From Star Wars and Super Mario through Technic and LEGO for Adults, online retailer Zavvi is one of the best sources of cheap LEGO at the moment, with steep discounts on some of the biggest and most impressive sets currently on the market.

And while there’ll no doubt be plenty more to look forward to come Black Friday proper, you can already get in on the action with some very tempting sales across the board at Zavvi. Click through to check out all the offers, or keep reading for our picks of the very best deals.

6 – 71360 Adventures with Mario / 71387 Adventures with Luigi

If you’re yet to take the plunge into the LEGO Group’s interactive video game theme, both of the Super Mario Starter Courses are currently discounted by £15 each, bringing them down to just £34.99 apiece. Pick your favourite Mario bro, or buy both – with the introduction of Luigi in this summer’s sets, 71360 Adventures with Mario and 71387 Adventures with Luigi can combine for multiplayer gameplay.

5 – 10281 Bonsai Tree

Arguably the best of the three LEGO Botanical Collection sets to arrive on shelves in 2021, 10281 Bonsai Tree is available through Zavvi for just £36.99, representing a decent saving on its £44.99 RRP. Far easier to cultivate than a real bonsai, this LEGO version is also a 2-in-1 set, with the option for either pink or green leaves (and a plentiful smattering of frogs). 4 – 31109 Pirate Ship

“Yo, ho, ho, it’s a LEGO pirate’s life for me.” If that’s a phrase you find yourself muttering on occasion – completely normally, of course, no judgment here – you’ll want to make a beeline for 31109 Pirate Ship, which will survive on shelves even while 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay sails off into the sunset by the end of 2021.

The Creator 3-in-1 set is so good that it’s really worth buying three times over to build each of its models simultaneously, so it’s handy that it’s currently so cheap at Zavvi. The originally-£89.99 set can be had for just £61.99 at the moment – almost a third off.

3 – 42110 Land Rover Defender

A frequent contender for discounts through Zavvi, 42110 Land Rover Defender is now available for just £104.99. That’s a huge £55 saving on its retail price, and the cheapest the 2,573-piece set has ever been through the online retailer. With all-wheel-drive, independent suspension, a six-cylinder engine, a four-speed sequential gearbox and a working winch, there’s a lot to get stuck into here.

2 – 75257 Millennium Falcon

Every LEGO Star Wars fan needs a Millennium Falcon under their belt, but whether by dint of its price or the space needed to display it, the enormous Ultimate Collector Series version isn’t for everyone. Thankfully, there’s a more manageable version available in 75257 Millennium Falcon, which can be had for a bargain £109.99 through Zavvi – a full £40 off its usual price.

1 – 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar

Probably Zavvi’s best pre-Black Friday discount at the moment is on 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar, one of the LEGO Group’s most experimental and innovative LEGO for Adults sets released this year. That’s not only through its inspired packaging, but also in how it redefines exactly what’s possible with LEGO bricks, and in doing so broadens the company’s appeal to a brand new market.

Whether you’re a sneakerhead or just want to check out one of the more intriguing LEGO sets to hit shelves in recent months – and it did only launch in July, which makes this early discount even more tempting – 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar is currently available for just £49.99 through Zavvi. That’s a saving of £30 on its price through official channels, and you can also bag free delivery using code ADIDASFD.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
