LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga can be played a trilogy at a time

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s latest trailer confirms that you’ll be able to start the story in any order you want, but there’s a small catch.

The gameplay overview trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been released online, revealing plenty of new information for the upcoming game from Mumble Mode to all-new menus, including a movie selection screen.

With LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga featuring levels for all nine main films in the franchise, not including spin-offs, some of which have character packs, navigating that content has encouraged the inclusion of a way to select which chapter you want to play through at a time.

This means that the upcoming title will let you decide where to start the game, rather than only having the movies playable chronologically or in order of release. Dioramas of key moments from each film support this in a menu.

Only the options for episodes one, four and seven are open with the narration confirming that you can choose which trilogy you want to play at a time, rather than which movie. The others are locked, likely needing competition of the previous film’s content first. Five dots sit beneath the title for the three episodes. While their function hasn’t been confirmed, this may be how many levels each episode has for a potential total of 45.

The small models present for each film recreate a single scene, using official sets and one model that has been given a slightly different colour scheme, changing Boba Fett’s ship featured in 75222 Betrayal at Cloud City from the familiar green design to one indicating Jango Fett’s ownership.

It’s up to you whether you start LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga with the original, prequel or sequel trilogy when the game launches on April 5, later this year.
