Official images of LEGO NINJAGO 71742 Overlord Dragon revealed
An online retailer has revealed the first official images of LEGO NINJAGO 71742 Overlord Dragon.
According to Brickshop, the 372-piece set will launch on January 15, 2021 for €29.99. It’s branded as a NINJAGO: Legacy set, but is actually an original design, taking its inspiration from the TV show rather than an existing NINJAGO model.
71742 marks the first appearance of Overlord in his dragon form, eight years after his television debut. It also very appropriately includes an exclusive Overlord minifigure, alongside a Golden Legacy Lloyd.
Here’s the set’s official synopsis:
Help Golden Lloyd take on the Overlord and his scary dragon in this thrilling action-packed adventure! Watch out when the dragon flies through the sky and tries to grab you with its sharp claws. Face the fearsome Overlord on the ground with your katana, but watch out for his sword. It is vital that the ninja defeat these powerful dark forces!
It’s not the only LEGO NINJAGO set coming next year, of course. Another retailer has already revealed five other sets, and we can likely expect many more as the action-adventure theme heads into its 10th anniversary year.

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

Well, it’s not the first time Legacy has featured something that’s previously only appeared in the show. The Giant Stone Warrior from Cole’s Earth Driller and several of the Legacy Minifigures never appeared in sets before now.
