First images of LEGO NINJAGO Legacy 71740 Jay’s Electro Mech

At least one more previously-unseen LEGO NINJAGO Legacy set is arriving in March, with 71740 Jay’s Electro Mech joining the Season 14 line-up.

The first batch of LEGO NINJAGO Season 14 sets were revealed last week to celebrate the TV show’s 10th anniversary. But as it transpires, there’s at least one more model on the way, which we’ve now got our first glimpse at thanks to a Bulgarian retailer.

71740 Jay’s Electro Mech isn’t tied to Season 14 specifically, however, as it’s actually a remake of 2015’s 70754 ElectroMech, and therefore falls under the NINJAGO Legacy theme. But where most Legacy models have represented a significant design upgrade on their predecessors, 71740 Jay’s Electro Mech is technically a simplified version of that original set.

That’s because it’s a 4+ model, meaning it’s mostly comprised of large, single-purpose pieces that help younger fans transition from DUPLO to System. Interestingly, the box art seems closer to the island setting of the rest of Season 14’s sets, although the original Tournament of Elements set’s artwork also carried jungle vibes, so it could just be a happy coincidence.

You can check out the rest of the upcoming NINJAGO releases here, as well as their prices and character names. They’re all due to launch in March, but the enormous 10th-anniversary set 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens is available right now from LEGO.com for VIPs, with a wider release on February 1.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
