LEGO Ideas 21326 Winnie the Pooh designer reaches 10K with a LEGO farm

The fan designer behind LEGO Ideas 21326 Winnie the Pooh has taken another project to the review stage, this time recreating a slice of farm life.

Ben Alder is absolutely prolific across LEGO Ideas, with a storied history of product ideas, contest submissions and activity entries attached to his profile. Until now, however, only one of those product ideas has actually gathered the necessary 10,000 votes to reach the review stage – and it made the cut at the first time of asking, eventually materialising as 21326 Winnie the Pooh.

That’s all changed today, as Ben’s latest project, Farm Life, has now secured the support required to advance to the next phase of the crowdsourcing process. His previous farm-themed build, a goat truck, stalled at just 1,429 supporters in 2020 – but his revised attempt (which includes that truck among it) has rocketed to the first 2022 review in just over two months.

He’s seemingly abandoned any and all hope of seeing the highly-coveted goat included in this project, however, instead populating his barn build with chickens, pigs, a cow, a bird and a family of farmer minifigures. Alongside the barn and truck, the project also includes a tractor and trailer, silo and chicken coop.

It’s a far more fleshed-out scene than his initial farm-themed pitch, but it may face a major obstacle in this summer’s rumoured LEGO CITY sets, which are already said to be turning their attentions to farm life. Whether the LEGO Ideas team can make Ben’s build work on shelves alongside those remains to be seen, but Farm Life will now join 32 other projects in the first 2022 review regardless.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
