All eyes on Brickstand

Chris Smith, the man behind Brickstand, has been generating a bit of media attention of late for his ambition to build all 92 English Football League grounds out of LEGO.

You may have caught some of Chris’ work through his website or when on display at any of the LEGO events he has attended, such as BRICKLIVE.

Also featured in Blocks magazine, Chris’ focus for the past couple of years has been faithfully recreating well known football grounds from around the UK, and this has since developed into a specific project to build all 92 Football League grounds.

Edging close to the halfway mark of his target, Chris has generated some notable media coverage recently. The likes of Vice, IBWM and a number of other outlets have featured his work, whilst earlier this week he appeared on BBC Radio 5 live.

As that latter interview brings up, football and LEGO haven’t had the strongest of connections of late. Ah, remember those two days that the German national team was available as a Collectible Minifigure series?

It’s good to see AFOLs picking up national media attention for their creativity with LEGO. It’s always well deserved, and is a great way of demonstrating to the wider world what can be done with the humble brick.

For my particular affinity with Italian football, though, my favourite build from Chris isn’t a stadium, but rather this:
