Brand new LEGO Star Wars sets

At the time of writing, a total of six new LEGO Star Wars sets have been confirmed to launch on May 1, just in time for all the new deals and freebies. Those include a new Ultimate Collector Series model in 75355 X-wing Starfighter, two new additions to the LEGO Star Wars Diorama Collection, a BrickHeadz five-pack, a midi-scale model and at least one set based on The Mandalorian Season 3. Check them all out in the table below.

40591 Death Star II GWP

This 289-piece recreation of the second Death Star is a desk-friendly display piece with a relatively low spend threshold (at least compared to 2022’s 40531 Lars Family Homestead Kitchen). You’ll need to spend a total of £130 / $150 / €150 on LEGO Star Wars sets to see it added to your basket across the May the 4th period (or while stocks last).

40591 Death Star II includes the same printed Return of the Jedi 40th anniversary brick as 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama, 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama and 75356 Executor Super Star Destroyer.

5007840 Return of the Jedi 40th Collectible GWP

Available with all LEGO Star Wars purchases above £80 / $85 / €85 from May 1 to 7 (or while stocks last), 5007840 Return of the Jedi 40th Collectible GWP includes a double-sided silver coin, embossed with an image of the second Death Star. It’s secured in a blue case with a hologram image of the fully armed and operational battle station from Episode VI, which is then packaged in a black outer box. It’s not LEGO, but it is neat.

30654 X-wing Starfighter GWP

The third and final gift-with-purchase available during May the 4th 2023 is 30654 X-wing Starfighter, a microscale rendition of this year’s Ultimate Collector Series set. Coming in at just 82 pieces, this tiny rebel ship is free with LEGO Star Wars purchases over £35 / $40 / €40. If you spend enough to acquire either of the other two gifts-with-purchase, you’ll also get this one free (while stocks last).

2x VIP points on LEGO Star Wars sets

Double VIP points – equivalent to 10% cash back in points to spend on future purchases – will be available on all LEGO Star Wars sets from May 1 to 7. That’s a welcome change from 2022, when the LEGO Group restricted its double VIP promo to selected Star Wars sets (and excluded most of the 18+ range). If you’re not already a VIP member, head over to LEGO.com and sign up now – it’s free to join…

5x VIP points on selected LEGO Star Wars sets

The LEGO Group is offering quintuple VIP points on selected LEGO Star Wars sets exclusively in LEGO Stores across May the 4th, which is equivalent to 25% of your purchase back in points to spend on more LEGO (or exclusive VIP rewards). The specific sets have yet to be confirmed, but keep an eye on Brick Fanatics for a list as soon as we get it.

VIP discounts on LEGO Star Wars sets

Alongside its other exclusive VIP rewards (see below for more on those), the LEGO Group is promising the opportunity to redeem your VIP points for exclusive rewards on LEGO Star Wars sets. If you’ve got a stash of points burning a hole in your virtual pocket, this could be a great time to make them go further than the standard redemption values, as you’ll be able to earn a 20% discount on selected LEGO Star Wars sets for just 100 VIP points.

May the 4th LEGO Star Wars VIP sweepstakes

Three different LEGO Star Wars VIP sweepstakes will be running during the May the 4th period, each offering a different prize – and requiring a different amount of points to enter. Zero points are needed to get your name in the hat for a signed copy of the now-retired 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer, while you’ll need to spend 25 points (per entry) to be in with a chance of winning a bundle of LEGO Star Wars gear.

The third sweepstake is maybe the most interesting, with an incredibly rare sterling silver R2-D2 minifigure up for grabs. Entries to that one cost 50 points each. Check out the table below for the full details on each VIP sweepstake, including when they’ll be running.

VIP sweepstake prizeVIP points requiredEntry period
Sterling silver R2-D2 minifigure50May 4 to 14
75252 Imperial Star Destroyer (signed)0May 1 to 7

Exclusive May the 4th LEGO Star Wars VIP rewards

At least three exclusive LEGO Star Wars VIP rewards will be available during the May the 4th period, including a limited-edition numbered print of 75355 X-wing Starfighter. You’ll need to spend a whopping 3,500 points to get your hands on that one, from May 1 to 7 inclusive (or while stocks last – the specific number available has not been disclosed).

For just 10 VIP points, you can also download a digital poster featuring every single UCS and minifigure-scale X-wing to date (also available from May 1 to 7), while spending 150 points will allow you to create a LEGO Star Wars comic book. No specific dates have been provided for that reward, so it will presumably run indefinitely.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
