Batgirl actor shares first look at upcoming DC movie

The reveal of the new outfit featuring in the upcoming Batgirl movie might be giving us our first look at a potential LEGO DC minifigure design.

Leslie Grace, who will be playing Barbara Gordon and her superhero alter-ego in Batgirl, has shared a new image of the character’s cinematic costume on social media. The movie will be streaming exclusively on HBO Max later this year, though an exact release date has not been confirmed yet.

Details of the plot are also unconfirmed, though the film is thought to be taking place in the DCEU with JK Simmons returning to play Commissioner Gordon. Still, no announcement has been made for whether this film will be in a new universe or not.

Either way, the first official image from the set of the film, with DC FanDome 2021 only featuring concept art, reveals Leslie Grace in costume as the character and highlights the purple and gold colour scheme that will feature in the film.

The outfit strongly resembles the comic book appearance of the character, which was also represented in minifigure form as part of The LEGO Batman Movie and the corresponding sets.

No LEGO DC sets have been confirmed beyond the four The Batman builds that have recently released have been confirmed, though rumours suggest that seven more models are coming later this year. With Batgirl being one of several superhero films from DC planned for 2022, it may be that the LEGO Group draws inspiration from it in the future.
