Behind-the-scenes of LEGO Star Wars 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina

Fans can get a peek into the development of LEGO Star Wars 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina in a new video with the product designers.

LEGO Star Wars 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina captures the wreteched hive of scum and villaint in 3,187 pieces. In this video from the LEGO Group, the designers behind the model reveal some of its secrets and discuss the design process.

“There are a couple of easter eggs in this set,” Model Designer César Soares reveals. “The first is a wanted poster written in Aurebesh, that is hidden somewhere in the cantina and it has a picture of R2-D2 and C-3PO. The second is that the Jawa shop is selling a very valuable item. A piece of Kyber Crystal, which as every Jedi in the galaxy knows, is the material that lightsabers are constructed [from].”

The original version of this model sat on César’s desk for a few years before the time was right to release.

“My favourites are probably the ones we got to make new elements for,” says Graphic Designer Madison O’Neil, discussing the minifigures. “So we have Ponda Baba, who has a new head element, we have the Devaronoain who has the pointy horns so that’s a brand new element and also Garindan the spy, we have created his nose and goggles,w hich actually sit on the neck of the minifigure. It fits perfectly with the newly designed hood element we have created.”
