Blooming LEGO in Hull city centre

A one-off installation of more than 1,700 LEGO-built daffodils have been planted in the city centre of Hull.

The display has been produced with the cooperation of Hull City Council as part of Hull 2017, the campaign marking the East Yorkshire city’s selection for this year as UK City of Culture.

Predictably, the work has been built using a very large number of LEGO bricks (146,400, if you want to know) by the UK’s only LEGO certified professional, Duncan Titmarsh.

If you want to check it out, though, you’ll have to be quick, as it’s only on display in King Edward Square from today through to 5pm on April 18.

Hull Daily Mail, who have a couple of videos of the installation on their site, report that if you attend between 2pm and 5pm on the final day of its display, the individual LEGO flowers will be available to take home on a first come, first served basis, in return for a donation to MIND and Hull Citizens Advice Bureau.
