Carl Cunningham pleads guilty to stealing Star Wars memorabilia

A former friend of Star Wars expert and collector Steve Sansweet has pleaded guilty to stealing items from Sansweet’s extensive collection.

Troubling news recently rocked the Star Wars fan community when it transpired that some of the world’s largest memorabilia collections, including Rancho Obi-Wan, had been the victim of hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of thefts. The missing items include a number of valuable retired LEGO Star Wars sets such as 10179 Millennium Falcon.

Rebelscum reports the news that Carl Cunningham has pleaded guilty to the felony grand theft, potentially facing four years in prison for the crime. The sentencing is scheduled for September 7. Cunningham was active in Star Wars fan circles and was a long standing friend of Steve Sansweet, the owner of Rancho Obi-Wan, and Phillip Wise, owner of Rebelscum. Wise became aware of the thefts when he realised his valuable prototype rocket firing Boba Fett action figure was missing.

Rancho Obi-Wan is still looking for assistance and information in retrieving the missing items, with a list of all potentially stolen pieces available on the museum’s official website.
