DC FanDome Flash trailer teases return of 1989 Batman

DC FanDome 2021 has revealed a first look at The Flash movie, including the return of a past superhero character who has multiple minifigures.

As part of the DC FanDome 2021 event, trailers, teasers and first looks for many upcoming DC films were showcased, including one for The Flash. Not to be confused with the ongoing TV series of the same name, the movie will explore more of the titular DCEU version of the character’s abilities.

As confirmed by the first look featured below, this includes the power to traverse multiple timelines and universes, opening the door for any past or future DC character from a variety of sources to show up. The Flash is scheduled to release November 4, 2022.

Judging by the final series of clips, this looks to include Michael Keaton’s Batman, with the shape of the cowl and Batmobile in the cave matching the iteration of the Caped Crusader from 1989 and in previous marketing material for the upcoming movie.

With the 1989 Batman getting a minifigure in 76161 1989 Batwing and 76139 1989 Batmobile, the latter of which is retiring soon, it could be that the LEGO Group will reuse the specially moulded cowl and other minifigure elements in a set or multiple based on The Flash. However, nothing has been confirmed for LEGO DC next year other than four sets based on The Batman, which at least confirms that the partnership between the LEGO Group and DC is continuing in 2022.

Looking at the rest of the video, there may not be much else to reveal any potential models that could release for The Flash but the possibility of alternate timelines and universes could mean any number of possible minifigures from DC history.
