LEGO verrät, warum Ideas Minifiguren-Verkaufsautomat verfügt über Duplikate

Over on Brick Fanatics Facebook Seite, readers are questioning why, especially in a three-figure set, we’re getting duplicates of minifigures.
“I see at least four that have doubles, at this price I would want to see 16 distinctively different minifigures!!!” wrote Martha Grill.
“Why two of the same colour? This was an excellent opportunity to release more colours,” commented Elizabeth Kennedy, while Stephanie Bisase agreed further down: “Why couldn’t there be 16 unique minifigures? I don’t want duplicates.”
Indeed, there are duplicates of the teal space man, gold space man, Kraken warriors, Griffin knights, Fabuland minifigures (at least for the torsos), and the Paradisa beachgoers (with male and female options). The male and female head options, as well as different accessories in the case of Fabuland and Paradisa gives each their own identity.
Nonetheless, as it’s admittedly frustrating for some to see duplicates, the reason for this was confirmed to Brick Fanatics and other fan media in a recent roundtable, with LEGO Ideas Design Manager Jordan Scott laying out the reasons behind the decision.
“In terms of our ability to make colour changes and new decorations, that primarily went to the minifigures,” explained Jordan. “The thinking was that they should all have a unique print as far as possible. That’s a lot of complexity, so that’s also why we duplicated some of them.
