A partnership with the European Space Agency has been proposed on LEGO Ideas, concerning a new rocket launch set similar to a recent Icons gesetzt.
Das LEGO Group’s partnerships with space exploration companies have been growing this year, bringing Lunar Outpost in alongside NASA with LEGO Technic 42211 Lunar Outpost Mondrover. LEGO Ideas user BrickRocketCollection is hoping for at least one more space-centric partnership, though.
They’ve proposed a recreation of the Ariane 6 rocket with the ELA-4 launch complex alongside additional modules in a thoughtful homage to the European Space Agency’s rocket, which first launched this past March. It’s an interesting and complex build, but one that might struggle to launch any further than the second 2025 review for one specific reason.
The existence of 2024’s 10341 NASA ArtEmis-Weltraumstartsystem might get in the way of this proposed project, since the two depict similar subjects despite covering entirely different space companies. Despite the similarities, 10,000 LEGO Ideas users seem to disagree and have thrown their support behind the rocket model.
Das LEGO Group has partnered with the European Space Agency twice before. The first time was to be an exclusive retail partner for the LEGO Ideas International Space Station Set, and the second instance was for some elements made from space dust that went on display in LEGO Stores. These might give the proposed project more of a chance in the second 2025 review.
For now, the space submission sits in the 10th slot in the second 2025 LEGO Ideas review, and the entry intake period continues. Here’s a reminder of everything in the round so far.
