The most expensive LEGO Ideas sets of all time – August 2022

LEGO Ideas 21335 Motorised Lighthouse has been revealed, slotting it neatly into the list of most expensive LEGO Ideas sets ever made. 

In recent years, the evolving line-up of LEGO Ideas sets has included more expensive models than when the theme first started and the recent announcement of 21335 Motorised Lighthouse has added another detailed, but costly model to the range. As for how this build stacks up to previous LEGO Ideas sets, it’s one of the most expensive yet. 

While we wait for the launch of 21335 Motorised Lighthouse and 21336 The Office one month later, here’s a look at the more costly LEGO Ideas models in order of their UK price ascending. 

5 (tied) – 21332 The Globe

21332 The Globe depicts a working brick-built globe using 2,585 pieces for £174.99 / $249.99 / €199.99, offering a model as display-worthy as it is functional. 

5 (tied) – 21327 Typewriter 

Theme: Ideas Price: £174.99 / $249.99 / €199.99 Pieces: 2,079 Available: Now 

21327 Typewriter approaches a recreation of the office item with 2,079 pieces for £174.99 / $249.99 / €199.99, including plenty of sand green elements. Like 21332 The Globe, it’s as functional as it is accurate-looking. 

5 (tied) – 21318 Tree House 

Theme: Ideas Price: £174.99 / $249.99 / €199.99 Pieces: 3,036 Available: Now 

21318 Tree House is the oldest LEGO Ideas set on this list, first released in 2019 and now costing £174.99 / $249.99 / €199.99. It has more parts for that price though, with many natural pieces used for different seasons of leaves. 

4 – 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay 

Theme: Ideas Price: £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99 Pieces: 2,545 Available: Retired 

21332 Pirates of Barracuda Bay pays homage to the legacy of LEGO Pirates in a rebuildable model featuring 2,545 pieces and plenty of nostalgic minifigures for £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99. 

3 – 21330 Home Alone

Home Alone’s LEGO Ideas set takes us above the £200 benchmark with 3,955 pieces for £219.99 / $299.99 / €249.99, almost all of which goes towards recreating the McCallister home and its many traps. 

2 – 21335 Motorised Lighthouse 

Theme: Ideas Price: £264.99 / $299.99 / €299.99 Pieces: 2,065 Available: Now 

The most recent LEGO Ideas set to be revealed, 21335 Motorised Lighthouse, has a much lower part count than you might expect for the price with 2,065 pieces for £264.99 / $299.99 / €299.99. That’s thanks in no small part thanks to the electronic elements and the unique Fresnel Lens brick, but batteries aren’t included. 

1 – 21323 Grand Piano 

Theme: Ideas Price: £309.99 / $399.99 / €349.99 Pieces: 3,662 Available: Now 

Batteries also aren’t included in 21323 Grand Piano, which includes 3,662 pieces for £309.99 / $399.99 / €349.99. Fortunately, 21335 Motorised Lighthouse doesn’t quite match that price.
