Fandom was key to designing LEGO Stranger Things 75810 The Upside Down

One very excitable Stranger Things fan had the opportunity to design LEGO 75810 The Upside Down – fortunately that fan was Senior Model Designer Justin Ramsden

Enjoying a particular television show or film is common, but being a huge fan of something is a little more unusual. What separates a fan from a regular viewer is a depth of knowledge, an eagerness to re-watch and a certain light in the eyes whenever talking about the subject. When it comes to Stranger Things, the LEGO Group’s Justin Ramsden is definitely more than just another member of the audience.

So dedicated is the LEGO Senior Model Designer to Stranger Things that he dressed as Eleven for Halloween. His passion for the series meant he was filled with excitement when he had the opportunity to work on the special, one-off 75810 The Upside Down. Not only did he have to come up with an innovative build solution, but he had to pack the set with easter eggs to satisfy fellow fans of the series.

In Brick Fanatics Magazine Issue 7 – the first edition of the publication in the new, larger format – Justin talks through his design process, letting his inner Stranger Things fan come out over and over again. He is not the only expert who reveals behind-the-scenes stories, as Senior Global Marketing Manager Anders Hellegaard Iversen and Associate Communication Strategist Pelle Bjørn Nielsen explain how the box art and marketing campaign came to be.
