Add some festive cheer to your LEGO Modular Buildings scene
LEGO Modular Building 10255 Assembly Square has – as it turns out – the perfect place to add a Christmas tree.
The LEGO Modular Buildings Collection is a popular range within the LEGO Group’s broader product offering, but it’s not really geared up for Christmas scenes. That sort of thing is left up to the Winter Village Collection, with this year’s addition – 10308 Holiday Main Street – offering a very respectable standalone model for LEGO fans.
Of course, if you’ve started collecting one set of models, you may be reluctant to collect the other. Fortunately, Reddit user BuzzAroundLenny has come up with an ingenious compromise to address this problem.
The solution is to take 10255 Assembly Square, remove its water fountain, and install a Christmas tree in place of it. The tree used here is a modified version of 40338 Christmas Tree, a promotional item released back in 2019. Swapping between the two should be relatively easy, particularly as the tree sits on a solid base in this example.
As you might expect, 40338 Christmas Tree is a little tricky to find nowadays – but as luck would have it, a similar take on the concept has materialised this year. 40573 Christmas Tree is a standalone model that allows you to assemble a large, brick-built tree for display. The main build may prove a bit too large for this purpose – but its alternate build lets you assemble two smaller models, the smallest of which is ideal for installation here.
Placing a tree in Assembly Square might limit access to its flower shop – although, since Modular Buildings are designed to separate into layers very easily, this shouldn’t actually be an issue for interacting with it. The tree itself is also a significant investment at £39.99 / $44.99 / €44.99, but when you consider 10255 Assembly Square currently goes for £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99, that may not seem too steep a price.
Both 10255 Assembly Square and 40573 Christmas Tree are currently available at LEGO.com. If you’re prepared to wait until tomorrow, you can get 40565 Santa’s Workshop with your order – as well as 40512 Fun and Funky VIP Add On Pack if you’re a LEGO VIP member.
