First look at LEGO Disney Villains Icons and Disney Duos

Two new sets to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary have been spotted online, and they give the spotlight to some less common favourite characters.

While we’ve seen plenty of fanfare for the heroes of Disney as the 100th anniversary draws nearer, there’s not been much so far in the way of celebrating the villains too. That all changes with the 18+ set 43227 Villain Icons, made to showcase the individuality of quite a few of our favourite bad guys.

Alongside the villains we’re also getting our first look at the new 6+ set 43226 Disney Duos, showing off some famous side character companions from some older Disney films to newer releases. We’re getting buildable figures of Pua and Hei Hei from Moana, Squirt and Nemo, Meeko and Percy from Pocahontas, and the classic pair of Lumiere and Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast.

The images we’ve got so far are from various different sources, from Zavvi to LEGO Bricks Mega Store to the kids sections of LEGO.com.

43227 Villain Icons also gives us a look at some never before seen minifigure characters, like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast and the Evil Queen in her disguised hag form from Snow White. There’s also some references to other villains that aren’t represented as minifigures, like a cassette tape of The Little Mermaid with a LEGO Ursula on the front (really pulling on the nostalgia factor there) and a card showing the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland.

Along with the many parts of the set, there’s a small model of the clock from Peter Pan with the characters’ silhouettes on the clock face, which arguably is the least villainous reference. We can only guess that it’s meant to reference the clock that the crocodile swallows rather than Big Ben.

While both of the sets don’t currently have a price tag or an official release date on the official LEGO site, Zavvi has 43227 Villain Icons listed as £124.99, with neither the US or EU prices confirmed as yet.
