First look at LEGO Star Wars 40288 BB-8

The upcoming polybag, 40288 BB-8, has been photographed and reviewed – giving fans an early glimpse of the set.

During this year’s LEGO Star Wars May the Fourth promotion, fans will be able to get 40288 BB-8 free with qualifying purchases. This 48 piece set is a brick built version of the beloved ball droid. The LEGO Group has provided FBTB with an early copy of the set, giving the website an opportunity to share images of the build ahead of its official release.

Surprisingly, the build is quite different to the Toys R Us make and take version from last year, that did not include printed pieces.

Despite the build’s small size, it manages to incorporate a feature that allows BB-8’s head to wobble in a way that is authentic to the films.

The polybag will be given away with qualifying purchases on Friday, May 4, the same day that the new LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series set, 75181 Y-wing Starfighter will get its official launch.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will be released on May 24. The LEGO Star Wars sets based on the film are available now at shop.LEGO.com.
