First look at LEGO Star Wars 75300 Imperial TIE Fighter

LEGO Star Wars fans eagerly awaiting the release of 2021’s new sets can now take a closer look at 75300 Imperial TIE Fighter. The classic craft from the original trilogy forms part of the new wave of sets, recently revealed to be launching in the new year.

YouTuber just2good received an early copy of the set from the LEGO Group and has provided a detailed first look at the model, build and minifigures in the video below.

The Imperial TIE Fighter features an opening cockpit and spring-loaded shooters. As with previous TIE sets the central control pod is built around an attractive printed window piece. This opens out to provide access to the inside where there is space for one minifigure. The unit is capped off with a printed roof piece for an authentic look.

The video also highlights the inventive way in which LEGO technic pieces are used to secure the wings to the cockpit.

The set comes with three minifigures, including a TIE Fighter pilot and Stormtrooper both armed with blasters.

Also included is an updated version of an Imperial Protocol Droid, here named NI-L8. This minifigure was previously exclusive to 75159 Death Star and its retired predecessor. A distressed version featuring a battered-look torso and legs also appeared in 2018’s 75220 Sandcrawler. This set provides a welcome opportunity to get this minifigure at a more accessible price point.

The set will launch as part of the new wave on January 1. It will retail for £34.99 in the UK, $39.99 in the US and €39.99 in Germany.
