Five LEGO sets nominated in 2020 Toy of the Year awards

Five LEGO sets are in the running for the 2020 Toy of the Year awards, across three different categories, including Construction Toy of the Year and STEM/STEAM Toy of the Year.

That’s fewer nominations than this year’s awards, where nine LEGO sets were included across six different categories. It also means that the LEGO Group can’t top this year’s prizes, with a maximum of three awards compared to the four the company ended up taking home in 2019.

The full list of 2020 LEGO nominees is as follows:

Construction Toy of the Year
LEGO CITY 60228 Deep Space Rocket and Launch Control
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 76125 Iron Man Hall of Armor

Specialty Toy of the Year
LEGO Ideas 21319 Central Perk
LEGO Stranger Things 75810 The Upside Down

STEM/STEAM Toy of the Year
LEGO Star Wars BOOST 75253 Droid Commander

You can head to the official website to cast your vote for the Toy of the Year awards, with the winners set to be announced ahead of the New York Toy Fair in January. Each vote you cast places you in the running to win all the nominees in a particular category.

The public vote will be weighted against polls carried out with media, retailers and members of the Toy Association. Keep your eyes peeled to Brick Fanatics to see if any of the LEGO Group’s products take home a gong.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
