Based on Tim Burton’s classic 1992 sequel, Batman Returns, 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box is packed with all sorts of moveable features, accessories and subtle nods to its source material. With that in mind, here are five things that really stand out for us in the upcoming LEGO Batman set.

5 – An all-new Batmobile

The LEGO Group may have released a bazillion Batmobile models over the years, but we’ll always welcome new iterations. The latest version is a lot smaller than more recent sets, but does at least appear to be minifigure-scale and echoes the look of the vehicle as seen in the 1992 film.

4 –Exclusive minifigures

76252 Batcave – Shadow Box will be an essential purchase for many affluent fans of the Dark Knight, especially as the set includes seven exclusive minifigures. Based on their movie counterparts are Bruce Wayne, Catwoman, The Penguin, Alfred Pennyworth, Max Shreck and two versions of Batman.

3 – Keep a close eye on crime

The monitor screens in 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box allow Batman to keep an eye on crime in Gotham City. What appear to be various stickered pieces include specific scenes from Batman Returns, such as Catwoman testing our her whip in a department store and The Penguin riding in his mini-Batmobile.

2 – Moveable features

Although primarily a display piece, 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box does include a number of fun and moveable play features. These include a rotating chair, changeable computer screen, two hidden shooters, opening and closing tool store and the Batsuit vault, which can be illuminated thanks to a handy light brick.

1 – Unique display options

One of the key selling points of 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box is the ability to display the set open or closed. When shut, it’s possible to get a glimpse of what’s inside through a Bat symbol cutout section, and opened up it reveals the model’s fully detailed interior areas.

76252 Batcave – Shadow Box will be available early for VIP members from June 5, with a wider release for everyone else from June 8. The 3,981-piece LEGO Batman build will be priced at £344.99 / $399.99 / €399.99. For more information on the massive model, be sure to check out our in-depth visual guide and gallery right here.
