Five things we spotted in LEGO Marvel 76208 The Goat Boat

The recently-revealed 76208 The Goat Boat looks to be a great LEGO Marvel set, as well as being one with plenty of interesting details to spot.

As the only set to be revealed so far that’s based on the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, 76208 The Goat Boat gives us our first look at some key elements from the upcoming Marvel Studios film. These include a new Thor minifigure, a Jane Foster as the Mighty Thor minifigure and the movie’s rumoured villain, Gorr.

However, a more detailed look at the set reveals even more secrets, clever little additions and what could be key plot points. With that in mind, here are five things we’ve spotted in 76208 The Goat Boat that you may have missed:

Aegir Asgard Tours

What looks like a stickered LEGO piece on the bow of the longship is labelled ‘Aegir Asgard Tours.’ According to Norse mythology, Aegir and his wife Rán are the personification of the sea itself, with their daughters personifying waves. This is a great touch for a Viking longship that should traditionally sail on water, but in Thor: Love and Thunder is pulled through the air by two giant goats.

All-Black the Necrosword

The back packaging for 76208 The Goat Boat shows Gorr attacking the Mighty Thor with a black sword. This deadly weapon is in fact All-Black the Necrosword, which Gorr the God Butcher took from Knull the Symbiote God. A living symbiote (like Venom), the sword is fuelled by the blood of gods as part of Gorr’s quest to rid the universe of omnipotent beings.

New Korg minifigure

76208 The Goat Boat includes five minifigures, including a brand-new version of Korg. This is only the second Korg minifigure to date, the first being included with 76200 Bro Thor’s New Asgard. The minifigure gains new printed torso, arm and leg pieces, with what appears to be a furry collar and the same previous head piece.

New Asgard map

Following a devastating attack by Thanos and the five-year ‘blip’, Thor and his people were shown to have settled New Asgard in the Norwegian village of Tønsberg. That was also the same location where the Tesseract was kept for many years before the Red Skull’s forces stole it in Captain America: the First Avenger. This mini-map of the village may hint at the Aegir Asgard Tour’s starting point.

King Valkyrie

In Avengers: Endgame, Thor decides to relinquish his power and authority, choosing Valkyrie as the ruler of New Asgard. Although not given a specific title, it appears that the warrior is now known as King Valkyrie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This set includes a new minifigure version of the character, following her appearances in both 76084 The Ultimate Battle for Asgard and 76194 Tony Stark’s Sakaarian Iron Man.

76208 The Goat Boat is due out April 26, with Thor: Love and Thunder due to be released on July 8, 2022.
