Four more LEGO Avatar sets revealed at SDCC

The LEGO Group has unveiled four brand new LEGO Avatar sets at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, rounding out the rest of the theme’s first wave.

Joining the already-revealed 75574 Toruk Makto & Tree of Souls are three minifigure-scale sets and one BrickHeadz two-pack, all of which will launch concurrently on October 1 at and in LEGO Stores. Just like the first set – unveiled at LEGO CON in June – all four of the new products are based on James Cameron’s original 2009 movie.

That means we’ll have to wait until 2023 (when more Avatar sets are rumoured to hit shelves) for anything based on upcoming sequel Avatar: The Way of Water, but given these products are clearly intended to capitalise on that movie’s release, tie-in LEGO sets feel nailed on at this stage.

For now, you can party like it’s 2009 with the entire first wave of LEGO Avatar sets, which you’ll find detailed below. In the mix here are most of the movie’s major characters – including Jake Sully, Colonel Quaritch, Dr. Grace Augustine, Neytiri and Norm – along with a base, mech, helicopter, flying beasts and small slices of Pandora. Standard LEGO action theme stuff, then – but all within that unique Avatar aesthetic.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then. You can follow me on Twitter at @brfa_chris.
