Full size LEGO Volkswagen T2 Bulli Camper unveiled

A life size Volkswagen T2 Bulli Camper has been constructed from LEGO bricks and will be on display in Germany in a few days.

The largest ever VW camper built from LEGO bricks has been revealed, with it set to go on public display shortly. Petrolicious reports that a replica Type 2 Bulli Camper constructed from 400,000 LEGO bricks has been put together by LEGO Certified Professional Rene Hoffmeister with support from Pascal Lenhard.

It weighs in at 700kg, is 5 metres long , 1.9 metres wide and almost 2 metres tall. The roof can be raised, there is a sliding door and authentic VW wheels – those are not brick built. A full interior has space to step inside the model, with LEGO versions of the requisite appliances found within.

Incredibly, the entire model came together in just six weeks. A last minute hitch saw a lack of transparent elements almost sink the project, but thanks to some all-nighters, the building duo were able to complete the structure in time for its first public appearance.

Attendees at the f.re.e leisure and travel fair in Munich, Germany will be able to see the LEGO camper from February 20 until February 24.
