Giant LEGO Super Mario model teased for San Diego Comic-Con
San Diego Comic-Con is back in less than one week and the LEGO Group has teased a giant Super Mario model for the show floor.
When it comes to the LEGO Group and San Diego Comic-Con, there are a few things the company has been known for in previous years – exclusive builds, panels and massive models on display. While we’re still waiting to see if there are any exclusive sets or minifigures at the 2022 event, multiple panels have been confirmed and a new tease reveals that at least one huge creation will be shown off.
Though never specifically named, it seems likely that this LEGO Super Mario teaser is pointing towards a 14-foot-tall recreation of Bowser. Whatever it is, it uses 663,900 bricks and the mention of roaring in the teaser might indicate an electronic element to the build too.
The reason for the LEGO Group promoting LEGO Super Mario at San Diego Comic-Con likely ties in with the upcoming release of 71411 The Mighty Bowser on October 1, indicating that this roaring creation could be the classic villain.
While this news will likely be more exciting to those who are planning on attending the event between July 21 and 24, it should still be interesting for those watching from home to see the huge creation. It also acts as a way to prove that the LEGO Group is back in full force at Comic-Con, which will be held in person for the first time since 2019 after the events of the past few years.
San Diego Comic-Con 2022 starts soon and even Marvel Studios will be in attendance showcasing future projects. Whether there will be more giant LEGO models has yet to be confirmed, though previous years have seen brick-built displays for DC, Marvel and Star Wars.
Notably, this will be the first time that LEGO Super Mario has been prominently featured at the annual event since 77907 Toad’s Special Hideaway was intended to be given away at San Diego comic-Con 2020 before it was cancelled.
