Huge LEGO Disney 43197 The Ice Castle officially revealed

The LEGO Group has officially unveiled the largest mini-doll set of all time, Disney’s 43197 The Ice Castle.

Weighing in at 1,709 pieces, the Frozen-themed build is the most expansive ever released to include mini-dolls – originally created for the Friends theme – instead of minifigures. And it carries the price tag to match, coming in at a mammoth £199.99 / $199.99 / €209.99.

For your money, you’ll bag a swathe of white and trans-blue elements that construct into a towering castle, measuring an impressive 65cm in height. That’s not quite on the level of Marvel’s 76178 Daily Bugle, which reaches a staggering 82cm with its rooftop antenna, but further cements the notion that this is a summer of verticality for the LEGO Group.

You’ll also take home nine characters, including four mini-dolls in Anna, Kristoff and two versions of Elsa, along with Olaf and four one-piece Snowgie figures. The interior of the open-backed build packs in plenty of detail, too, such as a microscale Arendelle castle and a grand piano.

43197 The Ice Castle will launch on July 1. If rumours are to be believed, we’ll also see a microscale Disney Castle launch alongside it as a gift-with-purchase. Stay tuned for more on that one.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
