With Christmas fast approaching, book stores are starting to fill up with great gift ideas. One such title is the latest LEGO offering from DK Books, I Love That Minifigure. We’ve had this new book for a few weeks now and with it’s release imminent, it’s time to share our thoughts. I Love That Minifigure brings together 200 of the coolest, rarest and most collectible minifigures, in one handy book. It give you plenty of fun facts and highlights some of the key features of each minifigure, along with their original availability and a rarity rating. It features 11 chapters each covering a themed gang of minifigures such as spooky one, heroic ones and icons to name but a few.
It’s a sort of sequel to the LEGO Minifigure Character Encyclopedia published back in 2013, but instead of just focusing on the CMF theme, minifigures from sets and giveaways are also included this time round. It’s certainly not a in-depth read, but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable to flick through, many of the facts will be known by most AFOLs but there’s still plenty of things to enjoy including the great imagery and adding up just how many rare one you have. It’s easy to forget most of the the LEGO titles are aimed towards younger fans, so taking that into account, it’s the perfect title for Christmas.

But for many the biggest draw will be the included exclusive minifigure, which this time round is a Zombie Skateboarder. It’s basically an un-dead version of the Skateboarder featured in the very first series of Collectible Minifigures, which is a nice nod to long term fans of minifigures. It’s a fun little minifigure, with great print detail and even includes the skateboard.
DK Books continue to create an fun and vibrant collection of LEGO titles and I Love That Minifigure is one of them, it may appeal more to younger fans than most AFOLs but it’s still a great book to have in your collection, especially for the exclusive minifigure. I would of loved to of seen a bit of behind the scenes stuff included, like we’ve seen in other books, but I guess there is only so much of this sort of content to cover before it’s just threading over old ground.
I Love That Minifigure will be published by DK Books at the beginning of October, priced at £14.99 and can be pre-ordered now from Amazon.
