Nearly monochromatic Japan mosaic could be LEGO Ideas set

You may one day be able to celebrate Japan with a stylised set similar to another build, should the latest 10K LEGO Ideas project be approved.

HisBrickMaterials’ The Art of Japan is one of a few sets that reached 10,000 supporters during the recent rush of new set reveals over the past few days, reaching the first 2024 review round with a good foundation.

Using a variety of black, white, grey and red pieces, The Art of Japan offers a nearly monochromatic model of a pagoda, Mount Fuji, a tree and the sun in the background using perspective to artistically pay homage to a distinct art style.

The three-dimensional build of this project may remind you of 21333 Vincent van Gogh – The Starry Night. It’s the same concept but applied to a much different art style and artwork. Still, there’s at least precedent for such a set on shelves.

It’s also similar to 40713 Japan Postcard though the lack of colour and difference in size likely means that the postcard model won’t affect this project’s chances in the first 2024 review round.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
