LEGO Ideas 21330 Home Alone officially revealed

The LEGO Group has officially unveiled the long-awaited 21330 Home Alone, its biggest LEGO Ideas set to date.

Coming in at 3,955 pieces, the massive crowdsourced model – which is based on an original concept by Alex Storozhuk – sails past the previous largest LEGO Ideas set, 21323 Grand Piano, by a margin of 293 pieces. As rumoured, though, it’s still cheaper than last year’s functional instrument, by virtue of not requiring any Powered Up components.

That means it rings in at just £229.99 in the UK, $249.99 in the US and €249.99 in Europe, compared to 21323 Grand Piano’s retail price of £319.99 / $349.99 / €349.99. Included in the box are a replica of the McCallister house – which combines the removable floors of the modular buildings with an opening dollhouse-style build – the Wet Bandits’ van, Kevin’s treehouse and five minifigures.

Alongside Kevin, Harry and Marv – all of which Alex pitched in his original submission – 21330 Home Alone brings us minifigures of Kevin’s mum Kate and ‘old man’ Marley.

“Just like every ‘90s kid, I grew up watching Home Alone and it takes a very special place in my heart,” said fan designer Alex. “I can’t even imagine holidays without it. This movie is very nostalgic and makes those warm childhood memories come up every time.”

LEGO designer Antica Bracanov added: “Bringing Alex’s Home Alone house to life has been brilliant fun. He’d thought about every aspect, from the layout of the rooms to the use of colour and of course the details from the movie to make it instantly recognisable. 

“Following the themes of the film, we wanted to make the experience as immersive as possible for fans of LEGO building and the movie. The step-by-step build mirrors the movie, and the ability to open up the set and see inside lends itself well to hours of joyful focus this holiday season – just add a festive backdrop and a certain Christmas movie!”
