LEGO Ideas 21329 Fender Stratocaster officially revealed
The LEGO Group has officially unveiled the 37th LEGO Ideas set in 21329 Fender Stratocaster, which is based on a contest entry by Tomáš Letanay.
The Slovakian LEGO fan’s Legendary Stratocaster was chosen from the finalists of last year’s ‘music to our ears’ contest to be transformed into an official set, which has now finally been revealed as the 2-in-1 21329 Fender Stratocaster. Just as Tomáš’s original submission recreated the guitar in multiple colourways, you can choose to build your LEGO Strat in either red or black.
That’s the headline story behind 21329 Fender Stratocaster for most LEGO fans, but the second one might be a little more contentious for those of us in the UK: the 1,074-piece set rings in at an eye-watering £89.99, a price point that’s made all the more significant by its US and Euro counterparts of $99.99 / €99.99, as we’ve touched on in our early review of the set.
Look beyond that entry cost, though, and you’ll find a rendition of the ‘70s Strat that has clear ties to Tomáš’s concept, including the addition of an amplifier with a detailed interior of circuitry, speakers and wiring. The model also includes a folding display stand, foot pedal and even a canvas strap element that mixes the Fender logo with a classic stud pattern.
“I used to play electric guitar when I was a teenager and I always dreamed of owning a Fender Stratocaster, but I could never afford it,” Tomáš said. “The competition on LEGO Ideas gave me the chance to create it in LEGO bricks.
“The Stratocaster was my gateway into music and I love seeing my LEGO design with the stand. I am hoping that other guitar fans get as much joy out of building it as I have.”
