Largest LEGO awareness message Guinness World Record set in Dubai

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has set the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest awareness message using LEGO bricks.

With no end to the Guinness World Records that can be set with LEGO bricks, yet another block based record has been set in Dubai, the Khaleej Times reports. The Roads and Transport Authority decided to get creative in communicating the danger of speaking on a phone while driving, using LEGO pieces to build the largest ever awareness message.

The sign reads “Your life is worth more than a phone call” in both Arabic and English. It used approximately 140,000 LEGO elements. A Guinness World Record adjudicator was on hand to confirm that the record was broken at Dubai Festival City.

“The underlying objective of this achievement is to send a loud and clear awareness message to motorists cautioning them against the risks of using of using phones while driving,” said Maitha bin Adai, head of the Roads and Transport Authority, at the event. “Traffic studies indicate that the probability of traffic accidents where motorists are using mobile phones while driving is four times higher than those not using it.”
