Last chance to get your LEGO art displayed in Billund

You’ve only got one more day to get your entries in for the LEGO Ideas art contest – and get your work displayed in Billund.

The competition calls on builders to show the Ideas team what art means to them. And LEGO fans have responded emphatically, with entries pouring in by the hundreds since the contest launched on October 5. At the time of writing, the entry page displays a whopping 419 submissions. But when the prize is as good as this, it’s no wonder.

That’s because five lucky winners will have their model displayed at the new LEGO Campus in Billund, Denmark. What’s more, they’ll also take home a complete set of any one series of LEGO Art sets, such as four copies of 31197 Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe, or three copies of 31200 Star Wars The Sith (review).

Entries close on November 3 at 11am GMT. That’s a tight deadline, but if you want to get in on the action, head over to the LEGO Ideas contest page. It’s a completely open-ended pitch, too: you don’t need to stick to the official LEGO Art mosaic format. But you do need to be able to build your model in physical bricks, so that the LEGO Group can put it on display.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
