LEGO Creator Expert 10300 Back to the Future Time Machine sells out again

Following a brief stint back in stock, LEGO Creator Expert 10300 Back to the Future Time Machine has reached 88mph and disappeared into thin air once again.

That’s our way of saying it’s gone, vanished, temporarily out of stock and unavailable to buy at LEGO.com. You can’t even snag it on back order right now, which means it’s useless for reaching either of this week’s brand new gifts-with-purchase, 40529 Children’s Amusement Park and 40533 Cosmic Cardboard Adventures. (Bad luck, too – it was perfectly-priced for grabbing them both.)

The incredible 3-in-1 rendition of Back to the Future’s modified DeLorean originally launched on April 1, then immediately sold out within a matter of hours. It didn’t return to LEGO.com in the UK and Europe until May 11, when it was available on back order, but all that supply has now been snapped up only five days later.

It’s not difficult to see why 10300 Back to the Future Time Machine is proving so popular, but apparently it was difficult for the LEGO Group to foresee such an eventuality – presumably the company’s bean counters didn’t have access to their own time machine – because the current supply simply can’t keep up with demand.

If you’re itching to pick up the 1,872-piece set, which includes minifigures of Marty McFly and Doc Brown, but have missed out again, keep an eye on Brick Fanatics for the first word on when it’s back in stock. In the meantime, hit play on the video above to check out our verdict on the set, or head over to our YouTube channel.

For now, 10300 Back to the Future Time Machine must leave Brick Fanatics’ Top 20 LEGO Sets List. But it’ll be back… in future.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
