LEGO Icons 10307 Eiffel Tower designer signing event coming to France, but not Paris

Fancy getting your brand new copy of LEGO Icons 10307 Eiffel Tower signed by the set’s designer? Best get booking a flight to France – but not the part of France you’re thinking of.

The designer signing for this icon of Paris won’t take place in the French capital, for reasons we can only imagine. Instead, you’ll be able to meet LEGO design guru Rok Žgalin Kobe at the LEGO Store in Strasbourg, some 300 miles away from the LEGO Store in Paris. The LEGO designer responsible for bringing the 10,001-piece set to shelves will be present from 10am to 12pm on November 26.

That’s the day after 10307 Eiffel Tower hits shelves, which will happen on November 25, or Black Friday. You’ll need to cough up a considerable €629.99 at the LEGO Store in Strasbourg – which, by the way, is technically a LEGO Certified Store, and therefore run by an independent third party – to bring it home, pending any further price changes before release day.

Whether you’re local to the area or just fancy making the trip, designer signings aren’t always guaranteed for flagship releases, so this could be worth making the most of – at least if you were planning to pick up 10307 Eiffel Tower on day one anyway. If you buy it at launch, the LEGO Group will also throw in 40579 Eiffel’s Apartment. Maybe you could get that signed too?

Those of us not able to make it to Strasbourg will at least be able to console ourselves by ordering a fresh, non-signed copy of 10307 Eiffel Tower from LEGO.com come November 25.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
