LEGO Icons 10312 Jazz Club references 20-year-old element

LEGO Icons 10312 Jazz Club references one of the older instrument elements despite it not being in a set for over 20 years.

10312 Jazz Club includes a variety of instruments including the new double bass brick as well as a drumkit. However, a performer scheduled to appear at the club every Friday is using a vintage LEGO instrument piece.

The poster outside the club includes a minifigure blowing into a LEGO trumpet, an instrument affiliated with Jazz as depicted in 21334 Jazz Quartet. At first glance, this might appear to be from the Clown Collectible Minifigure featured in 8683 Series 1.

However, its design has a bar grip for a minifigure hand and a thin end as well. Looking through the history of LEGO bricks, this is likely a reference to the old bugle element last featured in 3739 Blacksmith Shop and 6762 Fort Legoredo from 2002.

Appearing after the piece has not been available for two decades, this Easter egg is a notable call-back to a classic time for the LEGO Group.

It’s not the only reference in 10312 Jazz Club and we’ll be able to see exactly what else this set is hiding when it releases on January 1, 2023, for LEGO VIPs or January 4 widely for £199.99 / $229.99 / €229.99.
