LEGO 30584 Winter Holiday Train promotion steams into view

An unexpected LEGO promotional item has materialised at the official LEGO website – and may prove more appealing than the others currently available.

The LEGO Group often has a few different promotional items available during Christmastime, and this year’s examples have been particularly charming. The smallest of the bunch (which appeared at LEGO.com this morning) is 30584 Winter Holiday Train, and depicts a microscaled train with a festive flavour. In addition to a cheerful red, green and gold locomotive, a flat wagon with presents and a passenger car can be found in this set. 

The locomotive’s small size and flanged wheels mean that it can run on LEGO rollercoaster track elements, such as those found in 10303 Loop Coaster. However, no such track is included with this set – and of course, its small size means you can’t motorise it without some highly creative thinking.

Its price threshold is also very reasonable; you need to spend a mere £40 / $40 / €40 at LEGO.com in order to pick it up. As such, if you’re looking to curb your post-Black Friday spending, you can do so without missing out on everything LEGO.com has to offer.

If your tastes are running a little more expensive, 40565 Santa’s Workshop is also available at LEGO.com at the moment. That promotional item will set you back £150 / $150 / €150, although you’ll get this set as well – which may make it a more appealing prospect.
