LEGO Harry Potter 40577 Hogwarts: Grand Staircase GWP details confirmed

The promotional window and required spend for the newly-revealed LEGO Harry Potter 40577 Hogwarts: Grand Staircase gift-with-purchase have been confirmed.

Initially unveiled by a LEGO Certified Store in Singapore earlier today, the free gift has since been reviewed by multiple LEGO fan communities, who have in turn confirmed exactly when we’ll be able to get our hands on the latest addition to Hogwarts – and how much it’s going to cost us in LEGO Harry Potter sets.

According to Hoth Bricks, for one, 40577 Hogwarts: Grand Staircase will be free with a €130 spend on LEGO Harry Potter products from July 15 to 31. That’s a €30 bump on the required spend for the last Wizarding World gift-with-purchase, 40452 Hogwarts Gryffindor Dorms, which was originally available in November 2021.

Not that there aren’t plenty of options for picking up the 224-piece set, of course (which also comes with a standard Hermione Granger minifigure). LEGO gifts-with-purchase typically share figures across spend thresholds in different territories, so we can expect 40577 Hogwarts: Grand Staircase to be free with orders above £130 in the UK and $130 in the US.

From the summer 2022 wave, only 76408 12 Grimmauld Place would be enough alone to qualify for 40577 Hogwarts: Grand Staircase, and even then only in Europe. But a combination of brand new sets, including but not limited to 76401 Hogwarts Courtyard: Sirius’s Rescue, 76402 Hogwarts: Dumbledore’s Office and 76407 The Shrieking Shack & Whomping Willow, would also do the trick.

Alternatively, you could look to bag one of the three massive direct-to-consumer LEGO Harry Potter sets in 71043 Hogwarts Castle, 75978 Diagon Alley or 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition. Any of those would easily qualify for the GWP, and while none of them are currently destined to retire until 2024, 71043 Hogwarts Castle is about to experience a significant price increase in the US.

That could make the timing just right to snag the 6,020-piece set for this gift-with-purchase. It’ll be available with spends of €130 (and likely £130 / $130) from July 15 to 31.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

Wow, just read your article about your stance on LEGO Harry Potter. Pretty ridiculous. To say that by purchasing Harry Potter LEGO sets is directly supporting Rowling’s opinions or views or beliefs or anything she does or says for that matter is absolute garbage. I don’t care what she wants to do with her time, how she lives her life or anything about her in any way. It will never affect how I feel about a TOY and says absolutely nothing my opinions of beliefs because I enjoy a TOY. It could be made or created by anyone else in the entire world and this would not change or give any bearing on my choice to purchase and enjoy a TOY.
