LEGO 71040 The Disney Castle’s stock saga isn’t over yet

You still can’t visit Disneyland, but you can at least now build your own version, as 71040 The Disney Castle is once again back in stock at LEGO.com.

That’s the opposite tale to the one we were spinning just yesterday, when the 4,080-piece model shifted to ‘temporarily out of stock’ status at the official online store. But things move quickly in the world of LEGO Disney, which is to say that 71040 The Disney Castle is basically the most volatile product in the entire portfolio at the moment – at least where online inventory is concerned.

The real-life Disneyland is set to re-open on April 30, but only to residents of Florida, and only at 15% capacity, which basically means you’re not going to get there any time soon. Just as it has throughout the pandemic, though, the LEGO Group is probably hoping it can fill that gap for now with 71040 The Disney Castle.

Given its propensity for disappearing from LEGO.com, you’re best pouncing on this one as soon as you see it in stock – particularly as it’s been around since 2016, and could theoretically retire at any moment. If it has vanished by the time you read this, sign up to our stock alerts and we’ll let you know if and when it returns.

For now, 71040 The Disney Castle is back online, and back in our Top 20 LEGO Sets List. Let’s just hope it stays there a little longer this time.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
