LEGO at Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars Celebration Chicago gets underway tomorrow, and there’s plenty to check out for LEGO fans. Whether you’re heading to the show floor or just tuning in to the live stream at home, it’s a great time to be a LEGO Star Wars fanatic.

Jeremy over at Rebelscum has compiled a timetable of all the events to watch out for over the next three days.

Thursday, April 11

The head honcho of the LEGO Star Wars theme will be participating in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session over on the r/lego subreddit. It kicks off at 3:30 PM ET/8:30 PM BST, but the moderators are planning on creating a thread a few hours earlier to prepare questions.

Friday, April 12

20 years of the LEGO Star Wars Story – A Retrospective and Forward Look
1:30 PM – 2:30 PM on the Galaxy Stage (Room W374C)

Expect surprises aplenty at this LEGO-hosted panel, mainly because nobody’s really sure what’s happening with it yet. Jens may make an appearance in-person here, and you might just see the next UCS set revealed, says Jeremy.

20 Years of Collecting LEGO Star Wars
6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Collector Stage (Room W474AB)

Join Brick Fanatics Editor Graham Hancock, as he takes to the stage with Jeremy Beckett, James Burns and Duncan Jenkins to look back over two decades of LEGO Star Wars.

Saturday, April 13

Amazon Treasure Truck
10:00 AM – 7:00 PM at MPWest, Lvl 3 #4000

The Amazon Treasure Truck is bringing the internet retailer’s exclusive set 75251 Darth Vader’s Castle to Celebration. If previous Treasure Truck promotions are anything to go by, expect some kind of discount on the £119.99/$129.99 model.

LEGO Star Wars Animation Panel
11:45 AM – 12:45 PM on the Fan Stage (Room W470AB)

LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures and LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars have pushed LEGO Star Wars animation in bold new directions, thanks to the creative minds of Bill Motz and Bob Roth. To find out what goes into bringing these plastic pieces to the screen, head to the Fan Stage on Saturday morning.

20 Years of Collecting LEGO Star Wars
1:15 – 2:00 PM at the LEGO booth in the Exhibit Hall

This will be a truncated version of Friday evening’s panel, this time delivered at the official LEGO booth, taking a look at some of the highlights of 20 years of LEGO Star Wars.

Star Wars Celebration runs from April 11-14. Check back with Brick Fanatics over the next few days for all the key highlights.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
