LEGO Avatar sets rumoured for later this year

A new licensed theme is rumoured for later this year, possibly bringing the world of Avatar to LEGO sets following a similar Ideas project.

Instagram user greekbricks is reporting that multiple LEGO Avatar models are coming later this year, 2022, as the latest potential theme based on an existing franchise.

The source shares no specific details for all but one set, with a double pack of BrickHeadz rumoured to be on the way. However, the usage of the Avatar logo in the background of the post suggests that this rumour is based on the upcoming sequel to the 2009 movie rather than the world of elemental bending.

A previous LEGO Ideas project inspired by the film and the fauna of Pandora made it into one of the platform’s review stages but was never approved for a set, though it may be that plans were already in place at the time.

Aside from the sequel, Avatar will also be getting a game from Ubisoft in 2022, which may offer a taste of what creatures could be rebuilt in bricks – though the rumour states that the sequel is the specific source material.

Please remember that the above information is only a rumour and should be treated as such until the LEGO Group makes an official announcement regarding upcoming themes and models for 2022 as the report may turn out to be inaccurate.

The Avatar sequel is currently scheduled to release on December 16, 2022, following a delay that stopped it from launching in 2021.
